Put on your walking shoes and uncover the Cambodian jungle!
Hidden off the beaten path lies Kbal Spean, known as the “River of a Thousand Lingas”, featuring intricate stone carvings and a stunning waterfall. To reach the top, you’ll tackle a 3km jungle trek with a fairly steep incline. But don’t worry—wooden staircases help overcome the larger obstacles, making it manageable for those with at least a medium level of fitness. The path is well maintained, offering a rewarding experience for adventurous explorers.
After the hike, enjoy a lunch break locally to recharge and rest during the hottest part of the day.
On your return, you’ll stop at Banteay Srei, a charming and compact 10th-century temple famous for its exquisite pink sandstone carvings. Unlike other Angkorian temples, its delicate details and warm hues set it apart. To round off your journey, visit Banteay Samre—a serene, often-overlooked temple that looks especially breathtaking in the late afternoon light.
As you travel back to Siem Reap, pass through picturesque villages and take the opportunity to stop for rural photo moments.
