Negombo City Tour

You can witness the fishermen continue to bring their catch ashore from early in the morning. This market is famous for its shrimps, crabs and lobsters caught from the Negombo Lagoon and other big fresh fish from the Indian Ocean.

The Marsh and the Negombo Lagoon together provide and integrated coastal wetland ecosystem which includes a rich biodiversity. From a boat safari in the Muthurajawela wetlands tourists can explore and observe numerous bird species, butterflies and fish some of which are endemic as well as some other wildlife such as crocodiles, monitor lizards and Sri Lanka’s largest snake – the python.

This is a canal passing through Negombo which connecting Puttalam and Colombo. This canal was constructed by the British.

This fort has initially built by the Portuguese. It was nothing but a square with walls. Then the Dutch rebuilt the fort moving away from its initial square design to a pentagonal one. Later the British took over the fort, demolished and rebuilt it as a prison. The site is still used as a prison.

This is a famous Buddhist temple in Negombo which holds great historical and religious significance. The temple is known for its ancient ruins and architectural beauty.

Negombo beach is a well-known sandy beach in Sri Lanka. This beach is popular among both locals and tourists for activities like kite surfing, sailing, windsurfing and jet skiing. And also it is full of decent hotels and restaurants.
