Atlas Mountains Day Trip from Marrakech: Hike in Imlil & Enjoy a Traditional Berber Lunch

If you’re searching for unique things to do in Marrakech, this full-day Atlas Mountains trip is a perfect escape into nature, culture, and authentic Berber life.

Leave the city behind and spend a full day discovering the natural beauty and traditional culture of the High Atlas Mountains.

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Marrakech around 8:30 AM and driven through scenic countryside to the peaceful village of Imlil, located at the foot of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.

With your local Berber mountain guide, enjoy a guided hike through small villages, crossing rivers, walking past terraced fields, and taking in stunning mountain views. The hike is suitable for all levels and can be adapted to your pace (approx. 1.5 to 2 hours).

After the hike, relax and enjoy a home-cooked Berber lunch in a family guesthouse, served with fresh mint tea and overlooking the valley.

Before returning to Marrakech, stop at a women’s Argan oil cooperative to learn how Morocco’s famous oil is made traditionally.

You’ll return to Marrakech by around 5:30 PM, with drop-off at your accommodation.

High recommend experience day trip

As difficult as navigating Morocco can be for an American or European, the coordination that Mustapha and his team planned was impeccable. We were graciously picked up at our riad and fully comforted and taken care of every step of the tour. Our tour started with Mustapha greeting us with the biggest smile and we were wowed with his gracious and charismatic attitude along with such professional speaking and communication skills of the English language. The itinerary was beautifully planned as each stop was timed excellently. The food was outstanding (our favorite part was the Berber cookies). The hospitality was warm and comforting from all members of the team. We recommend this tour to anyone looking for an adventure that provides stress-free authenticity and who wants to support such an ambitious young gentleman. Hats off to Mustapha!
