Highlights

  • Ha Giang Bicycle Tour is a 6 day cycling challenge we design for adventure travelers to discover one the least visited region of Vietnam. The 6 day cycling loop begins from Hanoi taking you through Ha Giang city, Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van Karst Plateau, Meo Vac.

Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Giang City.
Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Giang City.

You will be picked up by our team at your hotel in Hanoi and transferred to Ha Giang via Tuyen Quang. Lunch along the way. Arrive in Ha Giang in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Ha Giang city.

Day 2: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Yen Minh.
Day 2: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Yen Minh.

On the second day of the Ha Giang Bicycle Tour, we’ll head northeast through Ha Giang province, a largely undiscovered region where many roads remain untouched, and the landscape retains its timeless beauty. Cycling along the reservoir through the mountains, we’ll tackle some steep sections, with gradients reaching up to 20%. We’ll then arrive at the stunning Lung Tam Commune, a secluded area that feels like an oasis, with few traces of tourists. Afterward, we’ll enjoy a less challenging ride on paved roads before meeting our bus for a transfer to Yen Minh. Overnight in Yen Minh.

Day 3: Yen Minh – Dong Van – Meo Vac.
Day 3: Yen Minh – Dong Van – Meo Vac.

Today, we’ll cycle along the well-paved Highway 4, where the ascents and descents are gentle, with gradients not exceeding 10%, offering breathtaking views. Along the way, we’ll stop at the House of Vuong Chi Sinh, once considered the "King" by the H’mong people, where his family still resides. The house exemplifies the traditional architecture of the White H’mong, who are known for their clean homes and elegant handmade stone fences surrounding their gardens. We’ll then tackle the “Heaven Gate” pass before arriving in Dong Van town. Here, we’ll explore the central market, housed in a nearly century-old building showcasing early 20th-century Vietnamese architecture. After lunch, we’ll take a walk through Dong Van’s Old Quarter, which boasts streets that are over 100 years old. We’ll then head toward Meo Vac, cycling the final 20km along the famous Ma Pi Leng Pass, known as one of the most challenging and dangerous roads ever completed in Vietnam. From this vantage point, we’ll be treated to awe-inspiring views of towering mountain cliffs and the Nho Que River, which appears as a thin line at the bottom of the gorge. Overnight in Meo Vac.

Day 4: Meo Vac – Mau Due – Du Gia.
Day 4: Meo Vac – Mau Due – Du Gia.

Wake up early if you’d like to experience the unique charm of Vietnam’s ethnic groups at the Sunday market in Meo Vac town. After breakfast and a visit to the market, we’ll continue our Ha Giang bicycle loop, riding from Meo Vac to Mau Due, and then on to Du Gia. We’ll follow the winding, unpaved roads built by the Vietnam Army during the War with China, which have remained untouched for over 30 years. The culture and lifestyle here, along with the stunning scenery, have preserved their original beauty, and we’ll encounter many of the region's distinct hill-tribal communities along the way. We’ll conclude the fourth day of the Ha Giang Bicycle Tour in Du Gia, where we’ll enjoy a homestay for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 5: Du Gia – Na Sai – Thac Ba Lake.
Day 5: Du Gia – Na Sai – Thac Ba Lake.

After breakfast, we’ll continue cycling for about 40 km, following the same route along DT176 until we reach the national road #34 in Na Sai. At this point, we’ll be picked up by our vehicle and driven to Ha Giang city for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll take a car transfer to Thac Ba Lake in Yen Bai province, where we’ll spend the night in a traditional stilt house of the Dao ethnic group.

Day 6: Thac Ba Lake – Hanoi.
Day 6: Thac Ba Lake – Hanoi.

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a boat trip to explore Thac Ba Reservoir. This journey offers the chance to observe the local villagers as they paddle their boats, encounter unique wildlife in the area, and enjoy the tranquil, picturesque surroundings of the vast lake. Alternatively, you can choose to take a morning walk around Ngoi Tu Village, where you’ll learn about medicinal plants and interact with the local Dzao ethnic people. After lunch, we’ll board the vehicle for the return journey to Hanoi, marking the end of our 6-day Ha Giang Bicycle Tour.
