Private 1 Day Trip with Sunrise at Angkor Wat

Private 1 Day Trip with Sunrise at Angkor Wat

Tour Itinerary: Angkor Wat Sunrise & Angkor Thom Exploration You will be picked up at the lobby of your hotel at 4:30 AM. Then, you will be transferred to Angkor Wat to witness the silhouette of the largest religious monument in the world slowly emerging as darkness gives way to the first rays of dawn. This is a truly spectacular sight and well worth the early start! You may wish to take the classic viewing position by the lotus pond to see Angkor Wat and its reflection, or find another vantage point to appreciate and photograph this mesmerizing temple. As the colors of sunrise fade, you will explore the inner parts of Angkor Wat, learning about its history and the fascinating stories behind the intricate carvings that adorn its galleries. Next, you will visit Angkor Thom, a massive ancient city surrounded by an eight-meter-high wall. Measuring 3×3 kilometers, the laterite wall protects the treasures within, including a moat that remains flooded to this day. You will enter through the South Gate, where your guide will introduce you to its fascinating history. At the center of Angkor Thom lies the Bayon Temple, where 216 enigmatic faces gaze over the horizon. Your guide will help you find the best angles for photography and explain the intricate carvings on the gallery walls. The exploration continues to Baphuon, with its impressive long causeway and the giant Reclining Buddha, a masterpiece restored in 2011 after decades of disruption caused by the war. You’ll then visit Phimeanakas, hidden in the shaded jungle, where climbing the steep steps to the top rewards you with a stunning over-the-tree-tops view. Along the Esplanade of the Royal Palace, also known as the Terrace of the Elephants, you’ll conclude the morning at the serene and picturesque Preah Palilay. Break for lunch. In the afternoon, your journey resumes with a brief stop at Srah Srang, the King’s Baths, a large reservoir that still holds water today. From here, it’s a short walk to the sprawling labyrinth of Banteay Kdei, a Buddhist temple with an atmospheric charm. The next highlight is Ta Prohm, which gained international fame as the filming location for Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft. Ta Prohm is a magical place where massive Spung tree roots (Tetrameles Nudiflora) intertwine with ancient stones draped in moss. This temple is a photographer’s paradise, offering countless opportunities to capture your own moments of exploration. Afterward, you will drive back to your hotel for drop-off. End of Service.
